Mayor Daniele Fede, Class I Borough Official Arthur Sopelsa, Class II Councilman John Mitchell, Class III Rebecca Foster, Class IV Robert Foster, Class IV Yesenia Frias, Class IV Daniel Schnipp, Class IV Tony Teresi, Class IV Samuel Harris, Alternate Robert Robbins, Alternate Planning and Zoning Board The Planning and Zoning Board is responsible for the preparation and adoption of the Master Plan, which is the guide for development of all amendments to the Land Development Regulations. The Planning and Zoning Board also reviews all proposed subdivision of land for compliance with Chapter XXXV, Section VII of the Land Development Regulations, which contains all standards for development of new streets, sewers and utilities. The Planning and Zoning Board is charged under the Land Development Regulations with the responsibility to review all site plans, parking projects, and major building projects for proper design and drainage according to standards. The Planning and Zoning Board, through the Master Plan and Land Development Regulations, sets the pattern for development of the community. It has addtional powers under the Land Use Law. It conducts hearings and may grant certain non-use type variances. Class II and IV members of the Planning Board are appointed by the Mayor. The Class III member is appointed by the Borough Council. Planning and Zoning Board Meeting Schedule The Planning and Zoning Board meets every second and fourth Tuesday of each month. All meetings are held at the Borough Hall Council Chambers beginning at 7:30pm on the night of the meeting listed above. The Board reserves the right to call for special meetings as it deems necessary. I will continue our efforts to make strides to make a healthy, safe and vibrant place for our residents. I welcome all residents and community groups to join in these efforts. Feel free to call or email me with ideas, projects and concerns as you have done in my past two years of my Mayorship. Your contributions make our community an inclusive and diverse place to live. I hope that you can navigate this website quickly, and if there are any services that you require or think should be included on the website, press the contact button below and I will make sure that it is addressed. The Mayor and Council will continue to use and explore grant opportunities, improve our aging infrastructure which is a constant challenge, and find ways to complete the open-space projects. Veterans’ Park improvements are now complete. The recreation center is under construction, and planning is in place for the tennis, pickleball and basketball courts in Olsen Park. The athletic complex is a testament to our commitment to the wellbeing of our community. Community walking groups are enjoying the track. We will continue our sustainable practices and I am proud of our Tree City USA designation for over 20 years as well as our Sustainable Jersey bronze certification. I am very proud of the services that the Police Department provides for our public safety, the Department of Public Works and all the services that it provides, including keeping our roads clear, removing leaves and taking care of Borough buildings. We cherish our first responders who train, volunteer and help with our commitment to public safety. I look forward to hearing from any volunteers that wish to serve on boards, committees or special projects. Kindly provide a copy of your resume or letter of interest to the Clerk, and we will see if there are any openings to fit your interests. I hope to see you at one of the Mayor’s Wellness Campaign events and at our community events. Air Quality Guidance BOROUGH OF BOGOTA CURRENT AIR QUALITY INFORMATION > PUBLIC INFORMATION > AIR QUALITY INFORMATION > Air Quality Forecast Air Quality Information Source (AirNow) AirNow is a partnership of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), National Park Service, NASA, Centers for Disease Control, and tribal, state, and local air quality agencies. Agencies all over the country send their monitoring data to AirNow for display. The Department of State provides data from U.S. Embassies and Consulates to inform personnel and citizens overseas, and the U.S. Forest Service and NOAA provide fire and smoke data. AirNow’s centralized data system provides quality control, national reporting consistency, and the ability to distribute data to the public, researchers, businesses, educators, and to other data systems. The Air Quality Index (AQI) is divided into color-coded categories and each category is identified by a simple informative descriptor. The descriptors are intended to convey information to the public about how air quality relates to public health. The table below defines the AQI categories. The purpose of the Board of Health is to establish policy and protect the health and well-being of the citizens of Bogota. These volunteer residents include medical professionals, as well as a mix of individuals from a broad spectrum of the community. The Board of Health oversees a full-time Registrar of Vital Statistics. Requirements When Applying for a Marriage License Either applicant must reside in the Borough of Bogota. Both bridge and groom must show proof of residence (driver's license, lease showing Bogota address, utility bill or bank statement). Both applicants must be present together with one witness who must know both applicants and be at least 18 years old. Applicants must present social security number and State ID or Passport. If either party is divorced or widowed, FINAL divorce degree or death certificate must be presented. Date of marriage and marriage officiant must be known before marriage license application appointment. There is a 72-hour wait period before license is issued. License is valid for 30 days from date of issue. The application fee is $28.00 and must be paid in check or money order.
